Session #89

19 H’rarmont (18:00)

More discussions happen over the rest of the evening about what could be the next steps.  Alhana suggests, that after a good rest, you could discuss plans the next morning.

You know that the Wizards of High Sorcery maintain a traditionally neutral stance concerning worldly conflicts, including the Dragon Armies' invasion.  Their primary concern is always the balance and preservation of magic, rather than political dominance or territorial conquest.

Nagash has a teleportation stone that permits him to travel from Thorbardin to Neraka, he is not sure if it can teleport more than one person.  Heimdall identifies it and it can only teleport one person at at time, that holds it.

20 H’rarmont (18:00)  -  Burial of King Lorac

In Silvanesti tradition, the hour before sunset is known as the Time of Reflection—a sacred, tranquil period when light softens, and shadows stretch long across the land.

It is believed that in this fleeting hour, the veil between the world of the living and the spiritual realm grows thin, allowing final thoughts and farewells to carry farther.

She also hopes that, as the sun dips below the horizon, Lorac’s soul might follow the light westward, toward the Halls of the Gods, unburdened by the torment that plagued his final moments.

You all head over to the courtyard, all is quiet.

You stand beneath the open sky East of the Tower of the Stars, where soft beams of setting sun light pierce through the gently swaying branches of an ancient cherry tree. Its bark is pale and mottled, its blossoms sparse this time of year—yet a few white petals still cling to the gnarled branches, fluttering in the wind.

Alhana mentions that his tree, was planted by Lorac himself when he was but a boy. Now, in the same soil, he will return.

As the coffin is carried into the courtyard by Orym and Artin, a gentle tremor rolls beneath your feet, very subtle.

King Lorac lies within a coffin woven of white linen, intertwined with delicate vines. His eyes are closed, his hands crossed over his chest.

Alhana steps forward first. In her hands, she holds a small silver brooch—shaped like a blooming starleaf. Her fingers tremble slightly as she sets it upon the coffin.

“I give you this, Father, A piece of our family… of what we still are. May you rest as you once lived, surrounded by beauty.”

King Lorac’s aide and the two personal guards approach next. Orym and Artin draw daggers and lay them on the earth beside the grave. Adamar places a Quill Pen made from a falcon's feather.

Artin whispers:
“You led us with honor. We followed without question. We now guard your rest as we once guarded your life.”

Le Nordais places a Lute, and Kelson place a small hammer he had when he was young.

Then comes Nagash, the noble draconian. He steps forward with a reverence that surprises even Alhana.

From beneath his cloak, he produces a small, polished wodden medallion of Paladine and places it beside the King and steps back.

With no fanfare, no trumpets or grand words, the coffin is lowered into the ground.

The earth stirs once more. From beneath the soil, slender roots and tendrils of ivy slowly emerge. They reach for the Linen-woven coffin with gentle purpose, wrapping around it.

They do not strangle or bind—they cradle. The roots seem to draw the coffin downward, deeper, until it vanishes from view, as if the earth itself opened its arms to receive its son.

For a moment, silence reigns.

And then, where once was disturbed soil, flowers bloom. Dozens of tiny white blossoms erupt from the ground, surrounding the grave in a delicate, circular pattern. The petals match those still clinging to the cherry tree.

Alhana speaks, barely above a whisper:

“Let Silvanesti rest. Let my father rest. The land has not forsaken him… nor shall we.”

There is no tombstone. No monument. Only the tree, the flowers, and the memory of a king finally at peace.

After the ceremony, you all head back to the Rose and Star tavern to discuss next plans.

Alhana, Adamar, Artin and Orym will be heading to Ergoth in the morning.  They will take the teleportation from Shalost to near Hamlet were they will ride Griffons to Halter Wood and then take her ship to Ergoth.

Hagash will follow up to Hamlet as its will be close to Thorbardin, he will meet with the Thorbardin High King, discuss options and hope that the word of his capture was not known. Then head back to Neraka.

21 H’rarmont (08:00)

Next Morning, you all say your farewells and depart on your own ways.

Heimdall casts Teleportation Circle and transports you all to his hometown of HillHome. You arrive in the dark, in a circular room 20 feet in diameter 15 feet high with a dome celling.  A door is located on the wall.

Heimdall has never seen this place or room before.
