Session #87

19 H’rarmont (14:00)

You emerge from the courtyard into the base of the echoing tower. The stale air clings to your skin—damp, cold, and heavy with the scent of rot and old stone.

Before you coils a massive spiral staircase, etched into the walls that is 150 feet to another floor. The stone steps are uneven, some cracked, some slick with moisture.

No torches burn, yet there's a faint reddish and purple glow that seems to seep from the stone itself.
You feel that something is watching. Not from above. Not from below. From everywhere.

Middle floor

Each step up the spiral staircase grows colder, the air thicker. As you pass the final step, a chamber opens before you. A massive, circular floor.

But then you see Sunlight. A shaft of pale golden light cuts through the gloom, spilling through the high, broken window. Dust dances within it like ash in still air.

As you enter the... he appears. King Lorac.

“You’ve come… but you are too late.”

"Alhana…My daughter. My star of the forest. You should not have come. You should have fled. As the trees did. As the light did. Before the rot took root in me..."

He steps forward—slowly... looking at you, slumped foward...

"I tried to protect our people. I tried to save Silvanesti. But I reached for power I could not wield. I listened to the whispers. I opened the door, and now the forest dreams of death."

His posture straightens. His image flickers.

"Leave this place, Alhana. Before the forest takes you too. Or worse... before he speaks through me."

As Lorac speaks, his voice starts to crackle. Alhana takes a single step forward...

"Father... it's me. Alhana. My friend and I are here to bring you home. Please, let me help you..."

Lorac freezes. And then—his back arches sharply, unnaturally, as if yanked upward by invisible claws. A sickening crack echoes across the chamber as his spine twists ever so slightly, too far to be human. His eyes flare bright green. His mouth opens, but the voice that emerges is not his own.

"She will fail you again, old king." The voice is deep and dark..
"She left you to rot. She left your people to burn. And now she dares return to your nightmare... dragging her little champions behind her."
As that last word echoes across the stone chamber, the crystal shard that Jack has possession vibrates violently first with a sharp green glow, then a heat that burns...

And then—Lorac collapses to one knee. The green light eyes dim. His face is a mask of pain and terror. Tears streak down his cheeks.

"He... he is inside me. I cannot fight him much longer…". Alhana rushes forward, but before she reaches him. he says :
"Go," "Find the orb... Use the shard. Break the dream, or all is lost..."

Just before she reaches him, he fades away..

Throne room

You ascend the final steps, the chamber opens before you.
Once a place of splendor, the throne room of Silvanesti now
looks and feels like a tomb.

The sunlight bleeds through stained glass windows high above.
At the other end a throne, flanked by ornate statues of angelic guardians
and golden pillars etched with elven artistry.

Sitting on the throne, King Lorac Caladon. or what remains of him.

The king's body is convulsing. His right hand rests on a green globe of
crystal that glows with swirling colours of light and dark.

A faint green shimmer dances across his skin, He sits beside a monstrous
figure that eclipses him entirely: A very large green dragon.

Green smoke drifts from the dragon's nostrils, curling into shapes that vanish
before they’re seen. Its eyes, lock onto you the moment you enter.

King Lorac speaks with a deep and dark voice. His voice echoes like a whisper down a long corridor of memory.

“Welcome... to the end of our dream and your miserable lives.”

****Alhana says that that is not her fathers voice....

Two Dread Wraiths appears from both side of the entrance to the throne room. Both are killed while Lorac and the Dragon stand-by, watching....

Combat continue with the dragon and Lorac who, not himself, also attacks you.
Dorren falls twice, now on death saves (1 success and 1 failure)

Alhana strikes the orb with her sword, damaging it.
The orb's defence mechanism, creates a loud buzzing sound in Hermes' head,
he is Deafened & Disoriented for 1 Round and takes psychic damage...

An attempt to overtake the Dragon,
Heindall in Giant Ape form jumps on the dragon's back.....
