Session #82

15 H’rarmont (19:00)

After the Draconian fight and dance, you continue on for a short while and decide to stop fir the night.

During the evening and night, you constantly hear animals in the forest and occasionally at a distance, you hear the sound of horrible screams from some sort of beasts.  You also hear whispering; you hear your name being called out but nothing more.

16 H’rarmont (07:00)

Next morning, you continue towards Shalost.  Upon approach the village of Shalost, Alhana mentions that all has changed, we should see be now the city, but it not there.

As you get closer to the city limits, you can now see that the tortured wood suddenly ends at the edge of a huge, circular clearing. This clearing is not filled with the green fog that covers the rest of the land. Instead, wildflowers grow amid tall green grass covering the hill in the clearing's center, and the sky is blue. A tower stands atop the hill.

Alhana confirms that this is Waylorn's Tower.

But it has changed... its higher than she remembers…

As you approach, not a single window penetrates its weather-stained walls. The only ornamentation is the battlement that runs around the top. The main tower rises 200 feet into the air, then a second, thinner tower extends upward an additional 30 feet. It is capped by a crystal cone. The base of the tower is a full 100 feet across.  There would normally be an entrance on the bottom of the tower, but it seems to have been blocked off, as if was never there.

There is a feeling of peace here, although tracks through the glade indicate that the dark creatures of the surrounding wood do wander here.

You approach and make your way to the top of the tower with “fly” from Heimdall.

At the top of the tower, the walkway that encircles the top of the tower, you can look out over the trees of the surrounding forest. Noxious green mists hang over the forest, these mists seem to get darker toward the east. Gray clouds fill the sky, you cannot see the horizon.

Peering east through the mists and the clouds; you can barely make out the dark black outlines of the city of Silvanost-and the palace of King Lorac.

Looking down at the floor of the tower, you see that there are three 5' square opening in the stone tile. Each of these openings is sealed by a metal plate. There are no handles.

The smaller tower rises from the floor 30 feet overhead. It is capped by a crystal dome. There is no door into this small tower. However, there are a series of steel rings attached at eight points around the smaller tower, about four feet off the floor.

After some investigation and cunning intelligence… You discover that the rings serve as handles to rotate the floor to open the square openings to the lower level.

On the second level, there are three more 5' square opening in the stone tile.  No rings on the centre wall.  You know that you need to rotate from above rings to open the openings on the second level.  Dorren, Kelson and Alhana go above (outside level) to rotate to floor, with some communication help from Korben.

Once this is done, the passage from the outside level to the second level closes, and an opening from the second to third level opens.

As the opening to the third level is pushed open completely, a metal clang is heard from the centre wall, with sound of dragging stone.  A stone guardian appears from the centre and attacks.

Le Nordais, Heimdall, Jack and Hermes are left to fight the Guardian alone.  Dorren, Kelson and Alhana are still outside on the top level.

Once the combat finished, Le Nordais, Heimdall, Jack and Hermes head down to the third level. On the third level, there are three more 5' square opening in the stone tile.  No rings on the centre wall.

Direction is given (with Korben’s help) telling Dorren, Kelson and Alhana to turn the rings until given the sign to stop (from Korben).

Another opening appears with a door that seems to access the lower level.  At the same time, an opening is seen from 3 to 2, and from 2 to top.

Dorren, Kelson and Alhana, descend towards the third level with the rest of you.

As the opening to the third level is pushed open completely, a metal clang is heard from the centre wall, with sound of dragging stone.

Through the opening, Dorren is right in from and sees a creature with a large eye and tentacles…
