Session #71

6 H’rarmont (1 pm)
You enter the mountain side through a secluded area into their camp.

The Ice Folk offer you their warmest hospitality, including visit of the camp and, when evening arrives, a delicious fish chowder.

The Ice folk are very kind and polite barbarian type humans...
Some discussion during the meal, "no business talk", they ask questions and discuss about family, friends, loved ones, and your home..
During the meal, Harald's introduces Arron Talbow, his most trusted advisor.
Afterward, Harald invites you into his quarters for a few hours of talk. and offers you all a beverage that is as clear as water (special brew distilled from potatoes)... it warms the soul during the cold nights.. cheers!!
Aaron explains that : We are The Arktos, or referred as "Icefolk" by outsiders, we are a quite a civilized race.
You notice that most of all the Arktos are short in stature (under six foot) and stocky in build. Their faces are usually weathered by middle age, due to the strong winds of Icereach. They most commonly have blue eyes, pale skin and reddish brown hair.
Aaron continues : We are mostly Fishermen who inhabit the frozen land of Icereach.
Our descendants were fishermen who lived on the coast of a continent south of Ansalon. but that no longer exists (Cataclysm). We are great hunters and well-known for creating a weapon called Frostreavers out of special ice found in Icereach, as well as our ice boats.
We are fierce warriors and although most of us speak Common, we generally do not welcome strangers, and outside of their daily struggle to survive, we do not care for the outside world. But your group seem sto have please the great white bear, this is why we accept you in our home.
We live in huts made of animal skins, and in the sides of the mountains and make our living by fishing. After the winter months, we will take to our boats in the nearby sea to fish. When the fishing is good, we will sell their extra catches in Rigitt, Tarsis and Zeriak.
Each of our tribes usually have a tribal guardian, an animal that we honour.
We have no written history, but a tribal storyteller, who learns all of the important events from his predecessor, through story and songs. And luckily for you, our tribe honours the great white bear.
The chief, Harald, is curious about the outside world, and only vaguely familiar with the menace of the Dragon Highlords. The reports he receives come from scouts sent to the northern frontier of the glacier, where they have talked to refugees and seen an occasional blue dragon, and white dragon.
Harald knows that the the Blue Dragonlady is on a special mission in Tarsis and wishes to head South but she is stopped by the cold climate, her dragons and army are not equipped for this weather. Its Feal-Thas that reignes more south.
Rumours are that Feal-Thas, the White Dragon Highlord, who is stationed at Icewall Castle, is hiding something from the other Dragon Highlords, a powerful artifact ...
I believe that is why the Blue Dragon Army is in the area.
Feal-Thas is a Silvanesti dark elf who was once a respected black robe mage that walked the halls of the Tower of Wayreth. He is unusually dark-skinned for his race, having white hair and haunting gray eyes. Even though he is a black robe mage, he normally wears white.
Harald, now that he knows you are heading to Icewall Castle :
-
He offers you to stay the night and rest.
-
He will provide climbing equipment.
-
He will also provide an Ice boat (8 hours) to icewall. suggests a 7AM departure (breakfast served at 6)
-
And mentions that the climb, for experienced climbers will normally take 4-6 hours..
7 H’rarmont (6 am)
Next morning, meal is prepared in the large dinning hall. Harald and Aaron great you and invites you to a morning meal, of course fish chowder.
After the meal he shouts to one of his men, your transport will be ready to leave at 7 am. My crew will take you as far out and as close to Icewall as possible.

7 H’rarmont (4 pm)
After about 7 or 8 hours, the ice boat starts to slow and comes to a full stop.
you can see a sheer 600-foot cliff rises from the bottom of the glacier.

The sides are icy and rugged, in most places standing straight and unclimbable. A few steep crevasses cut across the face, but all of this looks like last resort routes.
The climb up the Icewall would take about 6 to 8 hours, but as Heimdall polymorphs into a giant Eagle, he carries all up to the top of the 600 foot wall, Le Nordais climbs up using his boots of levitation. The group is nearly hit by a large chunk of ice that detaches from the side of the wall.
At the top, you cross the large wall to see Icewall castle.

Heimdall, still an Giant eagle flies over the castle and see a group of Thanoi in the main court yard. He tries to grab one of them, without success. More Thanoi gather and Heimdall evades and heads back to the group on the edge of the wall.
7 H’rarmont (6 pm)
At dusk, you move towards the castle, while approaching, Heimdall notices that a large white dragon leaves the castle and heads south-east into the mountains. Continue towards the castle, another large chunk of ice falls from the bottom side of the castle and reveals
Suddenly, a crack shatters the stillness of the glacier. With that split-second warning, a huge sheet of ice breaks to your right. You all manage to avoid the falling ice.
A narrow ledge revealed by the slide leads into a dark, previously concealed cave in the ice. The route up the cliff remains intact and is still climbable.
Abruptly, the long tunnel ends in a deep chasm, disappearing into a bluish-black crack unimaginably deep. The ice of the tunnel still retains its blue color, except to your left where it is a light, almost whitish colour.
A wall of ice cover sthe entrance to a larger hall. This hall is a large storage room.
After melting the ice wall, you notice in the hall, a huge pile of moss takes up the entire northeast corner, reaching a height of 3 inches. An assortment of large barrels stand in neat rows against the southern portion of the west wall. The barrels contain wine.
Rope, shovels, carpentry tools, blacksmith cools, five long-swords, seven battleaxes and 24 spears are on the racks.
After opening a few doors, you notice that access to the courtyard is guarded by 3 Thanoi and 4 Minotaur.
