​​​​As you get closer to the wrecked ship, you see lights shinning within the ship. As if somebody with torches are looking around..

 

Heimdall sends Korben to investigate.  The main deck, although covered with snow and ice, is empty.

 

As you investigate closer, the lights inside the ship stop.  The ship has many cracks and opening about 2-3 inches in size, with some 1 foot diameter port holes.

You manage to open the quarter deck, find two cabins that have some gold (total 63 gp, 7 sp) and a map of the continent of Ansalon before the cataclysm.

 

Down below you are welcomed by six strange creatures that light glows out of their bodies.  They are dressed as sailors.

​​Combat ends, and you notice that Taryn is no longer with you.  Heimdall goes up top to see Taryn off the ship in front of a portal, he turns to look at Heimdall, gives him a wave, throws a scroll on the ground, and enters the portal.  The portal closes and Taryn is no longer.

 

The scroll is a letter from Taryn...

My Dearest Friends,

 

I pen these words with a heavy heart, for I have made a decision that weighs heavily upon my soul. As you all continue your journey toward Icewall Glacier in pursuit of the dragon orb, I must take a different path—one led not by duty to our quest, but by the dark storm of vengeance that rages within me.

 

For too long, I have carried the burden of my father’s death at the hands of the hobgoblin Toede. This vile creature, who robbed me of my family, has eluded justice for too long. The closer we draw to the Glacier, the stronger my obsession becomes. The thought of seeking the dragon orb is eclipsed by my desire and, I need to find Toede and make him pay for the life he took from me. I fear that if I continue with you all, this hatred will consume me, and I will only be a danger to our mission and to myself.

 

So, I must leave you. I must seek out Toede, wherever he may hide, and put an end to the torment that has haunted me for so long. Only then will I find peace. It grieves me more than I can say to leave such steadfast and loyal companions, my family, in all but blood, at a time when we stand on the edge of destiny.  But please know that my heart remains with you, and I will pray for your success every step of the way.

I wish you Godspeed in the perilous days ahead. May you claim the dragon orb and triumph in the name of all we have fought for. And perhaps, when my own battle is done, I will find my way back to you. I long for the day when we are reunited, not as broken souls seeking vengeance, but as friends who have endured through trial and victory alike.

 

Until then, stay strong and remember that I am with you in spirit. May the winds be at your back, and may you find the strength in each other that you have so often given me.
