Session # 108

2 Phoenix (17:00)

Aaron gestures to an aide. “Quarters will be arranged. Rest well tonight — tomorrow will test us all.” Gailtred will escort you to your quarters.

To the quarters (Level 6) - The Barracks of the Crown

The corridors of the High Clerist Tower are alive with activity: messengers moving with urgency, knights exchanging quiet blessings before heading to their posts, guards making their rounds.  You are shown to your quarters.

Laurana - Le Nordais - how did Lord Aaron know about the arm and hammer...

A Knight’s Unease

Just as you’re about to enter, a voice calls quietly from the shadows near the stair. A young Knight of the Crown, steps into view. His helm is under his arm, his face pale with worry.

You recognize him as one of the guards that was

inside the council chamber.

“My lords,”  he says, keeping his voice low,

forgive the intrusion, I'm Sir Kane Dravorn"

We have all heard here in the tower of your great adventures

and the victories that have turned the tide of this war.

The knight get the attention of Le Nordais and Laurana followed by Tyvar.

The other head into their quarters where the outside

view of the setting sun.

I would not speak against a superior — but something troubles me.”  He glances down the corridor to ensure they’re alone.

I oversee the scribes work and ensure that the written orders are as directed and sent to Lord Aaron for signature and implementation.

“Sir Aaron … he’s changed. Since he has come back from Silvanesti, many have noticed it. His command is steady, his words strong — yet it’s as if his heart has gone cold.

He was once the kind to kneel with the squires, to share the same meal as the men. Now he speaks little outside the council. He doesn’t pray.  He watches… listens… like a hawk.

The knight hesitates. “Some whisper that death itself could not claim him — that Paladine restored him. I find that hard to believe but Paladine can do the impossible.  Still, when I look into his eyes, there’s something there, something beyond mortal weariness.

You enter your quartesr to discuss further, and he provides some additional information :

Two men who questioned him last week are gone — reassigned to the western wall. No one’s seen them since.”

A few of us are worried, mostly Crown knights and one Sword captain (Sir Garen Holt).  But they’re afraid. He commands the Rose; to accuse him would be treason without proof.”

One of the council members, Lady Kaela Durn, Knight of the Crown, has eluded that Confidential plans have vanish from the war table, an he suggest talking with her.

“You shouldn’t speak of this where others might hear,” he whispers. “If Sir Aaron truly… if something is wrong with him, then Lady Kaela Durn must know.”   His eyes shift down the hall, voice barely above a breath.

“She’s one of the few who might act — or at least listen. She’s no fool, and her loyalty’s to Solamnia, not politics. Her quarters are on this floor, she keeps to herself after dusk.”

He glances toward the stairwell and lowers his tone even further.   He straightens, saluting Dorren with clenched fist to chest.  “may Paladine guide you.

Towards Lady Durn’s Quarters

The corridors narrow as you move toward the western tower. The sounds of the fortress — boots, clanging armor, distant orders — fade into muffled echoes.  Cold mountain air seeps through arrow slits, carrying the faint scent of rain.

At the end of the hall, a single door marked with a silver crest bears the sigil of the Crown. The faint glow of candlelight leaks from beneath it.

Two guards are posted in the outer chamber of her quarters.  Guards : What business do you have with Lady Durn’s??     You tel them that you have an audience with her.

He checks with Lady Durn and lets you in, Dorren, Le Nordais and Heindall enter.  Her expression is taut, the calm composure of a seasoned officer straining beneath the weight of alarm.

She tells the guard that he is relieved.   But Lady Durn?

She tells him to Leave now and return in 15 mins.

When you enter and close the door,

I didn’t expect you,” she says quietly.

but perhaps fate has guided this meeting.   ”why are you here..."

Discussions between you and Lady Durn…

She finally mentions that “Something seems wrong.

Confidential directives from Palanthas have vanished —

from the war table itself. Three sealed packets,

marked for the eyes of the council only.”

She pulls to the bundle in her hands. “I found these scattered beneath the table — decoys. Someone meant for us to think the originals were still there until after the meeting.”

After some more discussions, she says “You’ve no rank within our chain of command,” Accept for you Dorren.

“and that may be our salvation.  If I speak against a commander of the Rose, I’ll be court-martialed before I finish the sentence. But you…”

I suggest that you “Search his quarters. Or watch him when he thinks himself unobserved. If you find proof — anything — bring it to me before the war council tomorrow.”  She straightens, slipping the false parchments back under her arm.

“If I’m wrong, I’ll answer to Paladine for it. But if I’m right……then the Tower already belongs to the Dragonarmies, and we’re only waiting to die.”

Signal Level Attack

A knock on the door, a guard approaches with haste and tells Lady Kaela :

Milady! The Signal Hall — it’s under attack!

The lenses and the signals horns are being smashed"

Lady Durn : “Where are the sentries?”

Guard: “all Gone, milady.  Lord Aaron dismissed all guards above Level Seven,

he wanted them ‘reassigned’ to gate duty.”

She asks you to assist and she will send more guards when she can find some, you make your way up to the 12th level and discover Knights are vandalizing the lenses and the signals horns. You attempt communicating but they only respond with violence.

After dealing some damage, they transform into Sivak Draconians.

Once the combat is over, Sgt Brandon and 8 other knights arrive.

They take care of cleaning up the dust from the corps of the

draconians and mentions that he will inform the

lord commander (Lord Talbow).

2 Phoenix (19:00)

Lord Talbow's quarters - Level 4 - The Barracks of the Rose

You decide to split up, Tyvar and Hermes, now invisible, head to level 4 (Knights of the Rose level), to infiltrate Lord Talbow’s quarters, but their abandon the attempt as guards are posted outside his questers.   The others are at the mess hall for food and drink.

Tyvar and Hermes head to the mess hall to join the others.  You decide to go back to Lady Durn's quarters and ask for her support, but she has left her quarters, and her guards do not know where she was headed.
