Session # 103
28 H’rarmont (14h00)
You make it to the top level and exit, at the end of the long tunnel (100 ft), you see light at the end, and also hear wind blowing. Send Korben to investigate, he sees a large hall a stronghold, the mine’s exit.
The heavy gates at the mountain’s exit groan against the wind, barely holding as the storm outside claws at them with a fury that shakes the very stone. Through gaps in the barred doors and the windows, you see the hurricane’s gray wall twisting and lashing against the mountain, lightning striking close enough to shack the ground.
Inside the stronghold, chaos reigns in its own gnomish way. Lanterns swing wildly from chains overhead, scattering frantic shadows. A dozen gnomes scurry about, shouting orders and counter-orders that cancel each other out. Some of them pile sandbags against the doors while others frantically patch leaks in the stone walls with tar-soaked rags, mud. One has lashed himself to a support pillar, while another scribbles notes furiously as every gust rattles the fortress.
Every few seconds, the doors shudder as if a giant beast were pounding at them, dust trickling from the ceiling with each impact.
You have Korben come back, and you head down a level to discuss next steps. During that time, Jack gets a weird feeling, something he’s felt before.. something bad, an event that is pulling at him personally.
You proceed with a few checks and detect magic, but nothing. After some discussion, you decide to travel to Ryn. Heimdall attempts the teleportation spell, but nothing happens, the spell doesn’t succeed.
You decide to go to the top level and the exit, as the mountain sems to hinder spells. As you step into the storm-battered stronghold, a dozen wide-eyed gnomes freeze mid-chaos.
One of the Gnomes yells out. “Rescuers! They’ve sent rescuers!”
Another says, “No, no, no! their clearly inspectors!
Look at the boots, very inspector-y boots!
They’re here to check our anti-hurricane protocols!”
One of them come to you and ask
-
“Did you bring extra rope?”
-
“Can you hold that beam
-
“Do you know how to recalibrate a crosswind turbine flux stabilizer?
No? Then grab a hammer and some of that cheese to fill a gap in the wall... we kinda need some help...
Kindhearted you are, you decide to assist in securing the stronghold. After about 10 or 15 mins of helping, you hear a loud bang on the large wooden doors, the gnomes open one of the two large doors, just a crack, 3 elves come in and tell the gnomes that the outside has been reinforced.
Laurana steps forward : ...Silvart?
At the large door, the female elf looks across the stronghold. “Laurana… by the gods, it is you.”
Laurana rushes forward and throws her arms around the female elf with such force that she stumbles a step back. Laurana : “I thought I’d never see you again!
Silvart : “And I you, my friend. Not a day passed I didn’t think of you. I prayed we would meet again—though I dared not hope it would be so soon.”
Laurana turns to you and : “My friends, this is Silvart — my truest companion from Southern Ergoth. She stood by me when my people were at their lowest, when I had nothing but doubt and fear. If I am the leader you see before you now… it is because of her.”
Silvart : “Do not let her words fool you. Laurana carries a heart that inspires all around her. Even a simple wanderer like me.”
Silvart turns toward you and she see Tyvar, and approaches him with a big hug. Silvart: Tyvar my friend, happy you finally found the Abanasinia heroes..
Then she stands back and says: "Hello I am Silvart of the Kagonesti. A wanderer, some would say… though in truth, I have walked many paths: as a guide, a hunter, and a servant to my people. King Wulgar entrusted me to watch these lands for signs of the Dragonarmies, and it seems my journey now crosses with yours.”
Oh! and where are my manners, this is Aradan and Varrion (twins) who have accompanied me here.
We are tracking rumours of draconian spies or movements near Mount Nevermind. We’ve heard whispers that the Dragonarmies have an interest in the area, and we are here to confirm these suspicions.
But we have seen no evidence of any draconian activity. We believe that it may be a ploy from the Dragon armies to divide our strengths so the draconians can focus on other areas of Ansalon.
Tyvar explains that they are here for dragon metal, but alas, none is left.
Some discussion about the dragonlances, teleportation sigils, etc..
Silvart is intrigued, and asks “If you will have me, I will stand as friend and ally. My bow, my blade, and my heart are yours.” I’m ready for an adventure. The twins are not as adventurous and decide to go back to Southern Ergoth with the Kagonesti clan.
More discussions. But now that you know that the remaining Dragon metal, can only be found in Sanction, how to get there in a reasonable timeline.
Silvart mentiones that she knows that there are sigils at the Majere monastery, maybe one oth them points to Sanction or at the least close. She discusses a bit with Aradan, who goes outside to communicate with Wulgar, who know quite a lot about lots of things, and even the sigils. Aradan comes back with a scroll that has the sigil code for the nearby village of Elmwood. The village is about 20 miles east of the Monastery.
At this point you all decide to travel to Elmwood.
Heimdall casts teleportation circle and off you go. Arrived in Elmwood, you are overcome with sadness, the whole village has been burnt down, death surrounds the city, bodies of hundreds of people lay burnt, adults and children. This is cleary the work of dragon fire.
Exited the city to travel to the Monastery that is about 20 miles away. From a far you could see smoke coming from that direction.
You arrived at the Monastery at about 9pm.
The outside should be is as it was and has always
been, but the whole monastery has been burnt down.
Jack knows that the top portion is only a front and the real monastery is within the mountain. The real entrance is hidden. Under the cove is a cavern entrance that leads to the underground portion of the Monastery.
Upon arrival, the Monastery seems empty. As you make your way in the large meditation hall, 3 large blue like spider come in through the doors and attack on site.
During the combat, the spiders will avoid attacking Jack, and all of Jack’s attacks on the spiders miss.
At a certain point during the combat, Jack's Medallion heats up and vibrates slightly.
